3ds MAX
3d Studio MAX is a breakthrough modeling , rendering and animation software developed by Autodesk for Windows NT 3.51 or later operating system. With MAX comes a new level of productivity , capability and customizability.
Some of the new features of MAX include the following:
  • New updated user interface to provide greater flexibility and power.
  • New operating system (Windows NT) that provides a greater level of power
and expandability than the older DOS platform.
  • New modeling commands and editing commands.
  • The Stack. The Stack is a list of modifiers applied to a piece of geometry. You can go back and change and applied modifier at any time. This gives you parametric modeling capabilities.
  • New multithreaded render to take advantage of multiprocessing.
  • New Matrial Editor and matrial types. The new interface and types provides you with just about all the matrial types you could ever need.
  • New Track View dialog box to control and edit animation sequences with ease.
  • New plug-in architect called Core Component Plug-In technology. Plug-in can now take over any part of the rendering pipeline , including modeling , rendering , video display , and so on...
  • HEIDI shaded display technology. Now you can work in real-time shaded environment that can take advantage of hardware acceleration from special video cards based on the GLint ship.

Space Warps: To facilitate the animation of scene-based
special effects (i.e., black holes, explosions, etc.),
a class of core component plug-ins called "Space Warps"
has been incorporated into 3D Studio MAX.
These plug-ins let users define sets of objects and modify them
collectively in real-time, in shaded mode, as users transform them.

When working with MAX, you will undoubtedly notice a large number of different file types that you can use. This appendix lists and describes the file extensions you will see with MAX.

Adobe Premiere

Adobe Premiere program is software that
brings the world of digital movie-making to the desktop.
Adobe Premiere works with Microsoft Video for Windows and QuickTime for Windows software, and lets you record, create, and play movies from
video, sound, animations, photographs, drawings, text, and other material
using your IBM or IBM-compatible personal computer.
Microsoft Video for Windows and QuickTime for Windows are
system utilities that let you integrate audio and video in Windows applications.
You can play movies created in Adobe Premiere in any application that supports these formats, or output movies to videotape.
