NATURE
Hiking in the mountains, looking for tracks of our fourlegged friends: elk, red deer, bear, fox, marter, beaver, wolf, badger,… Quartz is made into fine jewelry here: Stenhyddan is "the place to be".
Some might find the peace to throw a line and taste the delicious fish. One can fish here all summer- and winterlong. Take a canootrip on the Hoan or even flyfishing. There´s a lot of water around here, the lakes are very tempting for a dive after a long mountainhike. Also during the winter you can enjoy hiking and/or scootertrips. Our local guides know the area as there pockets and recognize tracks from afar. There is a whole network of scootertracks which you can follow till Lappland. Take some sausages and buns and make a campfire to grill your hunger away or a fish you just caught.
Imagin how this will taste?
For those who don´t want to motorize themselves into the mountains, you can cross-country which will allow you to listen to the silence or look at natures beauty. For those hunters among you, we have plenty of chances here. We have a lot of people who like to share their knowledge with you, they are locals who can cross this country as no other, know secret places, where the bears are sleeping, read tracks from afar, pick the right places to drink a cup of tee, all here in the highest landscape and the middle of Sweden, Härjedalen. Make friends and get jealous at these naturespecialists. At the museum you can take a look att a story off a boy who used a piece of fabric to clean in the local church. After all these years they found out this fabric is over 1000 years old and they are tapestries. In Forngård you can look at the exhibition. They even have reconstructed the weaving technic they used in those days. This technic is still used by local people in the village.
Children encounter warm or cold days by playing outside or use the gymhall.

These activities can be an experience in your life if you visit Överhogdal. Of course there is no obligation at using guides but we do recommend them, getting lost is not something you want to do around here.

There is a lot to see and explore, to learn and to do in `t Hoogdael, and if I may say, it is not the most common offer, or is it?
VÄLKOMMEN IN Hoogdael ! !
