The future of Skinfected has not yet been decided. We have not heard from Jocke yet and therefore the band is still on ice until further notice.

Meanwhile Adde E and I are still involved in other music projects. As written earlier one project, Ask Alex, is still alive and kicking. I have started a "testpage" on MySpace for the project and music will be available as soon as we have a few complete tracks. A link will be available on the Links page,

It is quite possible that another music project will spring out of Ask Alex. The Ask Alex project has up until now mainly focused on guitar based rock/pop tunes. But in the last couple of weeks a metal track, "Enemies closer", has seen the light and more will come, that is for sure. We have discussed if this might be the dawn of a new metal band/project. More info on that will be published here.

The future of Skinfected is being discussed by the band members. We are still awaiting Jocke´s decission and I think the band may "rise or fall" with his words in this matter. Jocke is a active member of the Västerås based bands Axenstar and Psychopunch and he still plays with the guys in Skyfire. It is not sure if he has the time for Skinfected anymore, but all we can do is wait and see. If Jocke choses not to participate in Skinfected we all respect his decision and will make up our minds whether we shall close the project up for good, freeze it again or continue without him.

This is how the members feel about the band at this point:

Adde J:

As for now I am still in need of an operation of my neck to even concider to play in a band. I DO want Skinfected to continue as a band but not necessarily in the form as we "froze" it. I´m open for a wider range of music styles. Skinfected has always been a band using many different styles of music as an influence and I do think we would benefit in implementing more of our influences in the music. I am open to the idea of Skinfected as a studio project if that is what it takes to keep the band alive.

Danne J:

Danne has a working schedule that is not in his favour if he wants to play activily in a band. Meaning with rehearsals, concerts and so on. He is NOT even (at the moment) interrested in starting up the band in its prior form. He want it as a studio project to be able to participate at all. When it comes to the style of music, he wants the band to continue with a broad spectra of music but easy things up a bit on the Death Metal front.

Adde E:

Being the only member not living in Västerås, Adde E will not be able to participate in any regular rehearsals. He is interrested in starting up the band again but has the same ideas concerning the style of music as Danne. He wants to tune down the Death Metal a bit and focus more on the dynamics of the music and widen the range of music styles used.

Jocke:

Jocke has not yet answered on the questions concerning Skinfected.

Some updates on the news front. Some related to the band and some not.

The operating on my left wrist has healed pretty good and I am actually back, playing the guitar again. I have never been a guitar virtouse so probably there will not be any difference in my ability to play.
The bad thing is that I (Adde J) managed to damage my neck and back while I were out jogging in the forest. I early July, 2007, I fell and injured some vertebras (kotor, in swedish) and discs in both the neck and my back. I am, once again, waiting for surgery to fix this problems. Most likely it will be done during this Autumn. Meanwhile, Skinfected, of course is on ice. We have NOT made any desicions about the future but hopefully we will be back in business.

To uphold the music productivíty Me, Danne and Adde E have teamed up with Emilie Rifall - vocals, and Alex Ekroth - guitar and formed a small project. The project name is, for now, "Ask Alex" and we are playing around with numerous of music styles and playing for the fun of it. A web site will most likely be up in the near future.
Jocke has, since a while, been a active member of the Västerås based band Axenstar.

Skinfected are now working on some new material that hopefully will result in a new cd release. This time a full length album. A record company has been contacted and discussion between the two parts are going on. A contract has been mentioned but is not yet secured. More info on this matter will come quite soon.

The release of the compilation Voices Of Death 5 has still some problems to overcome. The label are in a legalsuite against the company that should press the booklet for the cd. No release date has been told but we can be sure that it will take awile.

Well, well... Here we are again. Finally... There are not much information on the band even though it has been a while. We are about to decide what will happen to the band in the future.

A GOOD news now!!! The italian death metal compilation Phantasmata Vol. 3 has finally been released!!! We are contributing with our song "Monuments".

Hey there... We are´nt fast with the site updates, that´s for sure. Well... There hasn´t been much to tell about either. I have started to study at the university again, Jocke has got another guitar student, Danne works his ass of at the moment and Adde enjoys the life in Gothenburg. We still haven´t finished the recordings yet and I think that we are going to put that on ice for a while.
We have changed rehearsal place! We are now sharing rehearsing place with the great guys of Vicious. Thanks to you guys for letting us share with you!
We (I, Danne and Jocke) are going to start with our new band project (No name decided yet but we have some ideas). Jocke has made a song that is reeeally good with alot of grind!!! =)

We are still waiting for Adde E to get his internet connection for his new apartment. After that we can start to send new song ideas between us in Västerås and him down in Gothenburg.

Finally I have got my internet connection! So for now on there will be abit more updates on the page!

We have started with rehearsals again! Riffs for some new Skinfected songs are made. Hopefully we´ll see some new songs in some weeks or so.

Jocke, Danne, Adde J and Fredda P (former singer of Skinfected) are getting together with an old friend from Västerås and starting up a new band project. More info and maybe a separate site will come soon...

I will be without any internet connection for awhile. I (Andreas J) and my brother are moving to a bigger appartment. That means that there won´t be any updates on the site for a while.

It has been a while since I updated the site. We have taken a little break to solve some problems of the future. For an example; Adde E has decided to move to the city of Gothenburg, about 600 kilometers south of Västerås where we live. He don´t want to leave the band so we´ll try to get the band to work despite of the distance between us.

Jocke is away to record an album with his band The mist of Avalon.

A decision has been made to keep Skinfected alive and try to go on without Fredrik. We are trying to make some new songs right now and are taking a break from performing live. We are also trying to solve the problem with changing lead vocalist as easy as possible. More info on that later on.

We have rehearsed every day this week to get in shape for the gig at Culturen. We really hope it will be a perfect gig so that we can remember it with happy thoughts as the last gig with Fredrik.

On our early rehearsal today Fredrik Pettersson announced that he, after 13 years as vocalist of Skinfected, is parting with the band after the gig at CuLTUREN November 27th. He feels that the band takes to much of his spare time and he decided that it would be best for both parts if he left the band. Fredrik is one of the founders of Obnoxious (as Skinfected were named at the start) 1989 and started as both vocalist and guitarist.
Skinfected plans to enter the studio in early 2003 to record the last unrecorded songs that Fredrik has been a part of as a closure of the "Fredrik era". Fredrik has also made a deal with the band to work as a stand in on concerts until another vocalist is found. Discussions on how to replace Fredrik will be one of the bands major concerns in the nearby future.

Our first rehearsal (2 days ago) went well despite to the long time since we played together. We started with some riff making for a new song and it seems like we are in a state of change of our music right now. Looking forward to our next couple of songs. It seems promising.

We have reached the mark of 1000 listenings on MP3.com . Quite good I´ll say.

We have been in contact with an American band called Warface and are going to exchange some cds with them pretty soon. It is a really good, brutal band in the veins of Malevolent Creation/Slayer/Cannibal Corpse etc.

We are about to continue writing on the songs we started on before the KULT festival. We also will make a rehearsal tape of "In the hour of filth" and "The unseen enemy" to see if they are good enough or have to be changed.

The gig at KULT festivalen went pretty great. I heard that the sound from the PA were abit lousy though. That´s to bad. One might think that after one and a half day, the mixing guy would have figure it all out. Well, well... At least there were alot of fun... Photos will be added later on. Thanks to all of you who joined us on our metal crusade. ;)

Skinfected are thinking of joining another compilation cd. More info of that later.

An extremely good, detailed and LONG review of "Monuments" has been added to the "Review" page.

The texts for the new songs are complete. They will be called "The unseen enemy" and "In the hour of filth". They will be found on the lyrics page later. We have to see if there will be any changes in the songs/texts before we are "releasing" them.

Made some changes on my (Andreas Johansson) member page. The other member pages will be changed as soon as I get the updates from the other guys.

We have two new songs written and I am working on the texts for them. It feels like we have got onto a track with our music that we will hang on to. Yet two more songs are on our "work cheet". We can´t complain on the productivity at least. ;)

As I have written earlier we have taken a summer brake to make some new material and it seems promissing. Our rehearsal yesterday went really good and we were quite productive I must say. We are now having 3 or 4 new songs we are working on. Hopefully there will be a few new songs for the next gig at the KULT festival in late August at least.

We have been contacted be a record label (no names yet) who wanted us to to send some material to them. They asked us if we were interested in a possible release on their label. We are looking forward to the follow-up on this story.

We are now being played on a streaming network radio station ( New Style Radio). I am not sure if we are on the playlist yet but we are at least being played once in a while! Thanx to the Conter-strike player DarkFlame (Daniel Wernered) for fixing that for us!!!

Jocke is, together with Henke Wenngren, leaving Västerås for a week to rehearse with Skyfire. They will be back at the end of this week. Then we will start making some new songs. We have some riffs we want to try out together.

We are taking some time of from concerts. Probably until the Kult-festival in late August. Instead we are going to use our time to write new songs for the (perhaps) forthcoming album and concerts this autumn.

The gig at The Arosfestival, 12/6, was a very strange event. There were alot of people gathered to listen to us and we were really glad for that. The weather was rather bad when we started the concert and only got worse. It started to rain very heavy and the audience moved under cover of roofs hanging out on the sides of the stage area. Despite the bad weather the audience did not leave as we feared they would. Alot of credits from us to you all for all the support you gave us!!" Thanx alot!!!

I have added a couple of reviews of our song "Monuments" that were posted on the Opeth forum at UltimateMetal. I must say that I was really chocked (in a good way) of the good reviews we got there!!! Read them at the "Review" page.

We are planning to trade the CD "Blessed by ignorance" with cds from band overseas to spread the album better. We have, a couple of days ago, sent some cds to Australia allready. Hopefully the cd will be spread world wide and lay ground for our forth coming material.

Skinfected are taking it a bit slow right now. Jocke is going to England with Mist of Avalon in a week and they have to rehearse alot for those shows. That leaves us to keep on riffing at home for future songs.

We sent the cd "Blessed by Ignorance" and the song "Monuments" to a Romanian Metal- radio show , Nocturn Metal show, a while ago. On the 15th of May we got "Illusions of truth" and "Monuments" played as opener for the radio show!!! Not bad at all!!!

The Big Hit is "finally" over and life is back to normal again. Me and the guys want to thank all you who supported and believed in us through this competition! We love you all!!!

We don´t have any planned/booked concerts for the moment so we are going to focus on writing some new material instead. Hopefully we will be back with a new set list for some shows in the summer.

We are sorry for the lack of updates on the site lately. There are alot going on right now and we hope to do better in the future.

Skinfected won our first round of the music competition Big Hit and we are through to the semi-finals. Our Big Hit semi-final is on the 30th April at Bankiren! Be there and bang thy head!!! Alot of other great rock/metal-acts will be playing too (Throneaeon, Sloathe, Vicious etc.).

A new song were recorded at studio S-116 April 19-20th. The song are called "Monuments" and will be available for download at MP3.com pretty soon. Meanwhile you can listen to the song here on the site from the "Releases" page. I also added the lyrics to the "Lyrics" page.
