Archive Pro is a PC supported system
for storage and retrieval of documents.
A common problem in every office is the need to organize and store
documents and other physical items for future use. A handwritten,
typed or printed letter, a book, an instruction manual, a memo, a
magazine or a magazine article, a computer diskette, a CD-ROM disc, a
key, a guarantee form etc. are all examples of such documents and
physical items.
Most people store documents in a separate place - a filing cabinet - usually on the basis of content. Some documents are "one-dimensional" in terms of contents and pose no filing problem. Bookkeeping material (e.g. invoices) is stored in order of date in a binder where each invoice is identified by the serial number given to it by the bookkeeping software program. This is required by law, and the file is simply the binder you keep in your bookshelf.
In fact, most documents will have at least 4 or 5 "dimensions". A letter or a book can be classified according to date, sender, receiver, job or private, subject and so on.
Making separate files for every aspect of interest would neither be practical nor possible (how do you make a copy of a book?). This fact often manifests itself by accumulation of "document piles" in the office.
