EXPERIENCE
Master Project: Quality of different surface mapping techniques, Nov 2002
The project aims at investigating the quality of different mapping techniques as perceived by users.
- Researched theories in image quality assessment.
- Researched surface mapping techniques such as ordinary texture mapping, bump mapping and displacement mapping.
- Created 36 images using MAYA and Photoshop.
- Evaluated image qualities by 11 users.
Course Project: Online CD-store, June 2002
Project description: an online CD-store where customers can search and buy CDs and an administrator can edit inventory information and confirm orders.
My contribution to the 2-person team:
- Designed and implemented the database in Informix
- Designed user interfaces and test cases
- Implemented the project using JSP, JDBC, JavaBean, XML, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Course Project: Finite State Machine Simulator, May 2002
Project description: modularized software for graphical/textual specification of a FSM and visualization of FSM execution.
My contribution as Chief Graphic Programmer and Customer Representative in the 11-person team:
- As team lead in the 3-person graphic group
- Designed and documented all algorithms for graphical specification of FSM including the algorithm for representing FSM objects, for intersection detection, and for automatic layout of FSM.
- Implemented the graphical view of FSM using Java (a lot of Java2D and Swing).
- Served as user representative and collected user requirements.
- Contributed to the User Requirement Document, Software Requirement Document, Architectural Design Document, and Detailed Design Document.
- Participated in software development management, including risk analysis, software verification, and integration from different parts of Model-View-Controller into the final software.
Course Project: Library Database Design, Dec 2001
Project description: a database for the department library. The administrator can add new books, edit information of old books, and control user information; and student or staff can register, login, and check-out books.
My contribution to the 12-person team:
- Analyzed user requirements and designed the data model.
- Designed use cases and user interface.
- Implemented the database interface in SQL.
Course Project: Object-oriented Requirement Analysis of a Security Control System, Oct 2001
- Identified the OO requirement components from an informal requirement document.
- Constructed a data dictionary from requirement components.
- Identified and documented actors and use cases
- Diagramed an MSC (Message Sequence Chart) use case from a text use case.
- Created the requirements object model, diagrammed using ArgoUML.
Course Project: User Interface Evaluation of MS Excel, June 2001
Evaluated user interface of MS Excel according to Shneiderman's Eight Golden Rules and other criteria.
My contribution to the 8-person team:
- Analyzed the difference between first-time users, intermittent users, and frequent users.
- Evaluated the application of functions in Excel using the Eight Golden Rules.
- Learned from other people evaluation of other parts of Excel such as diagrams and help functions.
