Pultrusion is a continuous process for manufacturing profiles, tubes and rods with continuous cross sections. The materials used are polymeric resins such as polyesters and vinylesters. The reinforcement is fibreglass such as rovings and woven mats. Carbon fibre material is also used. The resin is often formulated to meet specific demands, such as high temperature durability, weather resistance, fire retardancy etc. Pultrusion has its roots in the aerospace industry. But today the major markets can be found in everyday applications thank to effective processes which have minimised production costs.
