Experience:

1997-2003, Hermannsson Architects, Redwood City, CA.
Job Captain, Energy Consultant, & HVAC System Designer:
Coordinated all aspects of residential design projects, including overseeing staff, meeting with owners, structural, civil and soils engineers and complete construction administration.

Produced hand and computer-generated drawings, complete construction documents, specifications and scale study models.

Designed and drafted HVAC mechanical systems, performed energy calculations, consulted on "green building".

Provided extensive solar studies for a court case involving a dispute between two neighbors, denying ones right to build within planning guidelines.

Remodeled the company’s office space, including building of custom designed partitions, shelves and desks.

Intern Architect:
Designed, rendered and built scale models for residential and small commercial projects.

Performed site measurements and preliminary cost analyses.

 
1989-1990, Richard Warren, San Luis Obispo, CA.
First-hand man Construction Worker:
Assisted in all aspects of building a 3,600 S.F. house for contractor/owner from start to completion.
 

1987-1988, Shirley Coates, Palo Alto, CA.
Architect's Apprentice:
Hand drew preliminary drawings and collected field measurements for residential remodeling.
 

1985-1991 (Summers), Thom Construction, Atherton, CA.
Construction Laborer:
Remodeled houses including framing, foundation work, electrical and some plumbing.

Architectural scale model building, "green" materials consulting, construction administration, extensive construction experience, working knowledge of German.



Background

Interest in design and construction from young age. Hands on experience in many areas of construction. Selected as teachers aid in design class critiques. 

Worked in Austria for two years to gain experience in European building techniques and design.

Remodeled many areas of my home, installed wood floors, windows, doors, landscaping, archways, and built-in storage.



Other Interests

Skiing, surfing, windsurfing, rock climbing, backpacking, sketching and building things.
