Title: Fixes from ver 4.51 to 4.51c Category: Lotus Notes 4.x Author: Ulf Elm Release 4.51c: Fixes a "denial of service" attack on Domino server *Applies to Windows NT, Windows 95, OS/2, Windows NT Alpha*, and the Unix platforms AIX, HP-UX, Solaris/SPARC and Solaris/Intel. Lotus has seen evidence recently of denial of service attacks on Domino servers running R4.5x. We are not providing details of the attack, in order to prevent deliberate attacks against existing Domino sites. The nature of the attack is that an external user, with a Web browser, is able to crash the HTTP server task in certain cases. This release fixes the known instances of this attack. We strongly recommend that all users running the HTTP service on Domino upgrade to this release. The same fixes have been incorporated in R4.5.2 which is currently due to ship at the end of June. There are two other fixes included in this release: ° Display accented characters correctly in the Web Navigator. ° Fix a memory leak when displaying bitmaps on OS/2 which resulted in swapper.dat on the workstation growing until all disk space is consumed after loading many bitmaps (client only).
