Plexus
has a method for
fingerprint identification. The core of all our systems is the method
used to match fingerprints. Our process is controlled by
patent-pending software for real-time pattern recognition. We have
developed a commercial product platform suitable for every area that
requires security and convenience and has previously used keys, passes,
passwords, PIN codes etc.
We
have chosen to work with a type of identification that measures
physical characteristics, biometrics, since it is superior to all
other methods when it comes to four important aspects
We
see it as our future goal to replace all present security systems with
advanced and user-friendly systems that offer higher security.
Furthermore, our solution enables our customers to decrease their
costs through reduced password administration. To many companies, this
is a task that requires a considerable work effort. We focus on technological core competence within two areas:
mathematical methods for describing and comparing fingerprints.
Additional technology and silicon sensors are bought from external
collaborators. Our entire production is assigned to specialized manufacturers with ISO9000 certified processes. We continuously strive
to offer a stimulating environment for the development of cutting-edge
technology, and work with various incitement systems to recruit and
retain our specialist competence. Focus on Overall Solution for Established market Today,
we primarily focus on established identification markets, mainly
everyday mass markets, where fingerprints replace passwords, PIN codes,
and keys. Interesting areas are for instance payment transactions,
access control in information technology systems, identity control in
physical access control systems, and access control for use in
electronic products. All
our solutions allow for a very high security level and
user-friendliness without violating the user's personal integrity. To fulfill customer-specific needs and provide complete
solutions we will work together with well-established system
integrators and excellent resellers within each market segment. We are
also setting up a network of selected international distributors and
plan to initiate sales over the web. In addition, our products are
available for system integrators and OEM customers. Furthermore, we
may license our unique identification software. |

OPPORTUNITY
The fast growing of the Internet and its related transactions such as e-commerce, banking enterprise data protection and confidential document management is creating a huge opportunity for the deployment of secure access systems. U.S. online commerce hit $43 billion in 1998 and is expected to grow to $1.3 trillion in the next years. CBS Marketwatch repots that the number one cause for concern is security. Providing these kind of service using the Webb requires enhanced protection of financial and information access. According to the internet industry almanac there will be over 597 million computers-in-use by year-end 2000, up from 380 million computers-in-use at year-end 1997. U.S. is projected to have over 164 million computer-in-use or 28,3% of the total in year 2000. Together with 16 other countries, the U.S. will account for over 70% of the worldwide computer-in-use in year 2000. These numbers include all computers, from PCs to supercomputers, used in business, educational institutions and homes. One major concerns to corporpration is security. The FBI reports annual losses to U.S. industries totaling $63 billion from the theft intellectual property stored on computers. According to Trans union, a national credit bureau, identity thieves collect billions of dollars a year by illegally assuming their victims identity. The crime is estimated to defraud well over 300.000 people a year. Research concultancy GartnerGroup has compiled a list of the “ Top 10 technologies to watch in 1999 “ and the results contain some forward-thing items, for example, the GartnerGroup predicts that biometrics the computer’s capability to read fingerprints, is one of the top 10 emerging technologies to watch 1999. Some of our regular customers will be find in the list below where fingerprint technology is to be used.
STRATEGYPlexus
is mainly interested in the
established identification markets - everyday mass markets where
fingerprints can replace passwords, PIN codes, and keys. These areas
are for example business transactions, authorizations control in IT
systems, and identification to access mobile products such as
telephones and computers. Performance CharacteristicsAll out products will offer a high security level and be suitable for use within all areas - without violating the users personal integrity. The level of security will be adaptable to the demands of different applications. Development
and Competence
We
focus on technological core competence within two areas: mathematical
methods for describing and comparing fingerprints, and our own
development of microprocessors. External collaborators will handle
other technologies such as silicon sensors. Plexus offers a
stimulating environment for the development of state-of-the-art
technology. We use various incentives to recruit and secure key
competence. Cost-efficiency and large Volumes Plexus strives to achieve optimal cost-efficiency. We plan to reach a large international market by developing a custom-made computer chip, Marketing and sales are handled through well-established collaborators within each market segment. At a later stage, Marketing and sales will be handled by an international network of distributors. Co-operationOur identification software can be
licensed to international companies marketing network-based systems
that require electronic identification.
