This is the day after our trip
to Kalantou. Now we're on the coastal road. If you drive over the side... |
We've now made our way down into
the town and are going to meet the bus with Helena, Doris and Erik... |
...your car won't stop until
your hat floats. The boys and I rode with Niels. The girls and Erik took the bus. |
...so that we can go to one of
those restaurants up ahead and get a bite to eat. We do that a lot of that on this trip. |
This is actually on the way home
on the inland bus route. We took the bus home instead of the girls. |
Just a little scenery from
inside the town. |
We got so high up into the
mountains we were in the clouds. |
Now we're on Apollonas own
little 'strip' where the restaurants are located. |
We've just arrived at Apollonas
and are looking down at the town panning left. |
Here's Doris and Erik in the
restaurant we chose. I got the world's absolute greatest fried calamari here. |
Now panning right. |
Same restaurant, other direction |
Now left again. |
After lunch it was time for a
little sun and fun. The waves actually got big enough for a little bodysurfing. |
Here is the kouros at Apollonas,
left unfinished in its quarry for over 2000 years. |
Helena decides to come down and
join the fun. |
I'll do whatever it takes to get
the right angle. |
Sean seeking protection
from the waves for Erik by hiding between the rocks |
One more time. |
Playing with Erik in the
sand..oops..I mean the rocks at the waters edge. Just in case you're wondering, at
about... |
Another closeup from the same
picture. |
...fifteen feet out from the
water's edge the bottom is all fine sand. |
Looking at the kouros from the
head down. |
Here's Erik and Doris preparing
for the jeep trip back to Naxos. |
This is what I was looking for
up on that rock. |
A little rest stop at a lonely
tavern in a secluded cove on the road back. What is that on the bottom right? |
